Four organizations, namely Wells Fargo, The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, Edison International, and SoCal Gas gave more than $200K in grants to The San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) Foundation.

$100K Grant under Valley Bound Commitment

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians has given almost $2 million to support a program at San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) over the past 13 years. The program is named “Valley-Bound Commitment” that aims to reduce economic barriers that may deter academic success.

It does this through the provision of enrollment fees and textbook costs for low-income students from local high schools during their first year at SBVC.

“San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is a transformative partner for San Bernardino Valley College and Valley-Bound Commitment students, providing almost $2 million to support the program over the past 13 years,”

SBVC Foundation Director Mike Layne

$50K for Clean Energy Hybrid & Electric Vehicle (EV) Technician program

Edison International has given $50K to the Clean Energy Hybrid and Electric Vehicle (EV) Technician program and $25K for STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) scholarships. The idea is to impart electric vehicle and clean energy field skills.

$25K from SoCalGas for Student Scholarships

Under this grant program, SoCalGas will provide $1000 scholarships to 20 students from the SBVC. These scholarships are for economically disadvantaged students enrolled in alternative fuels classes or taking alternative fuels certification exams, and $5,000 to promote these courses and sponsor the SBVC 95th Anniversary Gala (Inland Empire Community News).

$15K Grant from Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo will provide $15K grant to aeronautics students at the San Bernardino Valley College. It is under a program called Careers in Aviation Project grant. SBVC offers the Aviation Maintenance Technician Certificate preparing students for the Airframe and Powerplant Certificate, which is issued by the Federal Aviation Administration.

This certificate program helps secure jobs for aircraft inspection.
