This week we wrote about the Riverside Angel Summit 2021 that is coming to the Riverside county. Startups will get a chance to win between $100k-$150k in startup funding from the angels. We wrote how the event is a significant thing for the startup community as it will last for two months.

A subsidiary company Citrus Seeds LLC was setup by the Riverside Angel Summit to fund the startups which speaks of the long-term commitment we can expect from the summit organizers.

Another noticeable event we reported about this week is the upcoming hackathon called ‘Hack for a sustainable future’. It will be co-run by Esri, an internationally known GIS software company from Redlands, California and TechCrunch.

This week another important event we covered the news about was 2021 Spirit of Entrepreneur Awards. The event will have a televised broadcast. The coveted event is into its19th year and has been a key sponsor for aspiring startups. For instance, a startup called Blue that recently raised $1M in crowd-based funding once won the Student Fast Pitch Competition in the Spirit Awards program.

We covered four Inland Empire startups that raised crowdfunding through crowdfunding platforms like Republic and StartEngine. Notable campaigns were that of Blue Communications (the social introduction app we mentioned above) and Relay, a Riverside county startup that connects truck drivers with carrier companies. Both raised $1M and $500k respectively.

The pandemic forced 1000s of small companies out of business, and the negative impact was comparatively more for women entrepreneurs. We published a list of seven key resources that women founders and entrepreneurs from the Inland Empire can use to get funding, advice, and other resources.
