Fender Musical Instruments Corp. (FMIC) expanded its operations in Corona with a new facility that provides another 100,000 square feet of space, owing to rising product demand. The City of Corona announced that FMIC, the world’s largest guitar maker, marketer, and distributor, is expanding into a new location in California, creating hundreds of new job opportunities for Corona’s skilled workforce.

“Corona is honored to be home to one of the world’s top manufacturers in the global stringed instruments and amplifier market. Their innovation and adaptation throughout the last year truly embody Corona’s spirit of resiliency. We wish Fender continued business success and look forward to our continued partnership.”

Said City of Corona Mayor Jacque Casillas.

Fender | The Global Guitar Making Giant

The name Fender is associated with some of the greatest rock, country, and blues performers of all time. Fender Stratocasters and Telecasters have been used by legends like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Keith Urban, and Brad Paisley. At the same time, the company’s amplifiers, effects pedals, and accessories can be found on stages worldwide.

The “Dream Factory,” a custom shop run by Fender, is also open to the public. It has evolved into a leading manufacturer of highly collectible, bespoke instruments utilized by working professionals and guitar enthusiasts.

The Making of Fender Guitars

Alan Hamel, a Redlands local, invented the acoustically enlarged Twisted Tele neck pickup and worked on the Western Boots Telecaster models and Vintage Hot Rod Stratocaster guitars as a founding member of the Fender Custom Shop.

How Can FMIC Benefit the Californian Community?

FMIC originally came to Corona in 1985 to inspire players at all stages of their musical careers. The almost 200,000 sq. ft. factory, which employs nearly 1,000 people, is currently located at 311 Cessna Circle. Hundreds of jobs will be created at the new 345 Cessna site, which will serve Fender’s Custom Shop and “Made in the USA” manufacturing lines for Fender®, Gretsch®, Jackson®, Charvel®, and EVH® products.

“When it became clear that we needed additional space to facilitate growth, the executive and operations team strongly aligned on continuing our growth in Corona. We have established strong connections to this community, and it certainly influences who we are and how we operate. Last year was nothing short of extraordinary. I couldn’t be prouder and more appreciative of our partnership with the community. We are committed to Corona and our growth and are very excited about the future.”

~ Said Fender Executive Vice President of Operations, Ed Magee.
