The Community Based Organization (CBO) Grant Program intends to offer grants to nonprofit organizations providing social services to Corona citizens that address ongoing, new, and developing needs. The Community Based Organization grant program (CBO) was given $500,000 to provide funding to nonprofits that provide services to Corona residents who the epidemic has touched. Starting in Fiscal Year 2023 and concluding in 2025, funds will be distributed yearly for three fiscal years.

The amount of money available for CBO grants is restricted. A total of $166,666 will be available each year for the next three years. Starting in the spring of each year, an annual Notice of Fund Availability (NOFA) will be issued to encourage applications. 

The president signed the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) on March 11, 2021. Funds were granted to states, territories, tribal regions, counties, and cities under ARPA for further COVID-19 aid to address the pandemic’s effects. Corona was given a one-time grant of about $29 million. Staff presented project and program choices to ARPA funding on November 3, 2021.

About CBO Grant Program:

The Community Based Organization (CBO) Grant Program in the City of Corona was established to support local organizations and programs that provide or sponsor a diverse array of services, activities, and events that benefit residents. CBOs are nonprofit organizations that offer community-based programs and services.

The Community Services Department has collaborated with community members, local organizations, and City staff to develop the CBO Grant Program guidelines and application. These guidelines will be used to evaluate applications for funding from eligible CBOs.

Application Process

Eligible applications may earn between $2,500 and $25,000 in CBO grants, depending on funding availability. Applicants must be a nonprofit organization, demonstrate a COVID effect, and use the money solely for Corona residents if chosen.

Applicants who meet the criteria may get anything from $2,500 to $25,000. If an application meets the following criteria, they will be considered for funding: 

1) they are a California-recognized nonprofit; 

2) they demonstrate a COVID effect, and; 

3) they provide services to Corona citizens. 

Loss of finances, difficulty to obtain funds, loss of personnel, reduction in staff, and other COVID effects are examples.
