On Tuesday, June 14, from 5:30 PM-9 PM, the Murrieta Innovation Center (MIC), Impact Southwest Riverside County (Impact SWRC), and other partners will present the second Evening of Innovation at South Coast Winery. This event will feature presentations from 12 life sciences startups currently incubating at the MIC.

Tara Lynn Gray, Director of the California Office of the Small Business Advocate, will be the keynote speaker. She will speak on innovation in California and how it distinguishes Murrieta from other places worldwide.

For context, last month Startempire Wire reported that the MIC received $2.4M to uplift its Innovation Center and support Life Sciences startups and entrepreneurs.

Murrieta Innovation Center | A Hub for Life Sciences Companies

The Murrieta Innovation Center (MIC) is the primary incubator for life science firms in Southwest Riverside County. MIC is a dedicated building constructed by the City of Murrieta in 2012 to serve the region’s entrepreneurial and startup sector. The MIC was contracted to local 501(c)3 Impact Southwest Riverside County in 2020 by the City of Murrieta. There are now nine biotech startups working out of the MIC.

The MIC is now home to 12 life sciences startups, spanning from DNA and genomic sequencing to cancer diagnostic research and applications, and is owned by the City of Murrieta and run by Impact SWRC. A $3 million federal EDA grant was recently given to MIC to finance the construction of a new wet lab, a clean room, a new dry lab, and the restoration of existing office and conference facilities.

Murrieta Genomics

Murrieta Genomics, the only genomics lab in the region that focuses on aiding companies, is nurturing genomic-based innovators in their lab. The mission of Murrieta Genomics is to help founders and entrepreneurs succeed. This incubator is dedicated to helping founders, entrepreneurs, and companies grow by providing access to high-quality business and industry experts, high-level research, industry connections, and state-of-the-art labs.

Startempire Wire Previously reported that Murrieta Genomics collaborates with local entrepreneurs, scientists, investors, mentors, partners, and Murrieta City.

The clients use their co-working space for single desks to private offices and classrooms, labs, or event space meetings. Their memberships include access to all the collaborative spaces and amenities, high-speed WiFi and onsite IT support, printing and copying, a coffee bar with an espresso machine, snacks, and even lunch on Fridays.

“With such a healthcare-focused region, we are thrilled to highlight and offer well-deserved exposure for the entrepreneurs that work hard at creating solutions for healthcare’s most difficult challenges. Each of these startups has a unique perspective, and those who are interested in the next big thing in life science innovation should pay attention.”

President/CEO of Impact SWRC, Patrick Ellis

Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Empire!

In the past, entrepreneurship was seen as something in Silicon Valley and New York City. Today, people worldwide are becoming entrepreneurs at a younger age and more frequently than ever before.

Entrepreneurship is changing the Inland Empire by empowering people to pursue their passions and make a difference in their communities. The ability to create something out of nothing is one of humanity’s greatest gifts. It’s what sets us apart from other species on Earth.

Whereas innovation is about improving things that already exist. It can be anything from solving problems with better technology or creating new processes for industries like healthcare or education. It is similar to entrepreneurship in many ways, but it doesn’t require an idea or original concept — only an improvement on an existing idea or product.
