Webinar Agenda

Representatives from the DGS Procurement Division will discuss how to:

  • Register with eProcurement
  • Become Small Business Certified
  • Pursue State of CA contract opportunities
  • Market to state agencies
  • Find bid opportunities and much more

$10B Gov Procurement: Benefits of becoming DGS Certified

The California state government spends approximately $10 billion annually on goods, services and public works.

DGS encourages small businesses and businesses owned and operated by veterans with disabilities to register and become certified to do business with the state. Some benefits include:

  • Access to government contracts
  • Guarantee of payments on time
  • Availability of a variety of projects

Cal eProcure: Access to California State Contractors Register (CSCR)

Cal-eProcure becomes the portal for access to advertise bid opportunities with the state of California in the California State Contracts Register (CSCR).

Pursuing Contract Opportunities with the State of California

To do business with state agencies, small and medium businesses need to be able to market their services effectively. In this regard, the state gives guidelines to make it easy to bid for relevant projects.

The video below gives a detailed briefing about marketing your business to the state agencies in California.

How Procurement Works? Conceptually and Procedurally

If you are looking for a hands-on deep dive into how procurement works and the acquisition methods of the state, the video below is a good resource to prepare you. Take, for instance, three types of contracts that you might not even see advertised on Cal-e-Procure as well.

These include:

  • Contracts under $10,000 procured through Fair and Reasonable Methods
  • SB/DVBE Option = Contracts from $5,000 to $249,000 (or $333,000 in public works)
  • Emergency purchases
