The National Security Agency (NSA) awarded a $3M grant to CSUSB to build cyber security talent in the country. The university will execute this project in collaboration with the Riverside Community College District’s LAUNCH Apprenticeship Network, San Bernardino County Schools, and the company Tomorrow’s Talent.

“Our goal is to ensure that students in high school, community college and four-year institutions have a direct path into the cyber apprenticeship pipeline as well as internships and, ultimately, jobs,”

Tony Coulson, executive director of the CSUSB Cybersecurity Center

The Cybersecurity Center

CSUSB has gotten immense support from government agencies and other philanthropic organizations in propping up cyber security talent in the country. it’s cybersecurity center is now named as “Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (CAE-C) Community National Center by the NSA.

The university received a $10.5 million grant from NSA last year.

America needs 500k Cybersecurity Professionals

Startempire Wire previously reported that the country lacks approximately 500k professionals in cyber security field. CSUSB is at the forefront of plugging this gap.

It got $3.8 Million in grants from from the National Science Foundation. The grant aims to help CSUSB continue its CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service Program.

The scholarship covers tuition and books paid for and students receive a stipend of $25,000 per year for undergraduate and $34,000 per year for graduate students. Another official page of the university puts across the scholarship stipend at $50k and $80k for undergrads and graduates, respectively,

“I worked to re-establish the DoD Cyber Scholarship Program so that schools like CSUSB could demonstrate the full potential of their students, faculty and programs. This investment in CSUSB’s Cybersecurity Center is a tribute to the hard work of Dr. Coulson and his team”.
